Farallon Islands Trip Planning

The Fall season September through November generally provides the best weather for the Gulf of the Farallons region. However, weather is always a factor when operating a vessel on the ocean. Safety is our number one priority and adverse weather can effect our expedition schedule.

Schedule: Departing from Emeryville, California at 6:00 AM, returning approximately 7:00 PM. Click here for Landing Map.
Trips run Sept. 23 through Nov. 19 (7 days a week)

Price: Cage Diver
US $775 per person
Includes cage diving, diving air, weights and weight belts, continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, beverages, beer, wine.

Price: Topside Observer
US $375 per person
Topside Observers may be accompanying one or more of the cage divers or just coming along for the ride to enjoy all the islands sights and sounds above the surface. Although being the water and meeting a Great White Shark face to face is the ultimate experience many of our shark encounters may be viewed from the surface. When natural predations occur most of the feeding activity takes place on the surface in full view of everyone. Our Farallon expeditions are very educational and exciting for anyone who loves to be outdoors and on the ocean. During the trip we often encounter whales, porpoise and many other varieties of marine mammals and sea birds. To spend the day at South East Farallon island is an amazing experience that we wish more people could enjoy.

A deposit of 50% of the selected trip cost is required to reserve your spot on any of these expeditions.

Does Not Include: Souvenirs, gratuities for the crew. Though we have a very successful expedition record, we cannot guarantee a Great White Shark encounter on every trip. We believe it would be irresponsible to claim some sort of control over Mother Nature. Reality is that Great White Sharks are wild animals that have their own schedules and priorities. They live in an extraordinary environment that at times, also does not cooperate according to our schedules. Weather is always an important factor when operating offshore. We do however, promise to take you to the best place at the best time and provide you the best opportunity to encounter a Great White Shark.

Weather cancellations can and do occur. We do not provide a refund due to weather cancellation. Our policy is to reschedule your trip during the current season or the following year. This is an industry-wide standard.

DAN insurance is recommended for all passengers.

Disclaimer: Shark Diving International reserves the right to make whatever changes in the trip that circumstances dictate. Including cancellations due to weather, mechanical failure, acts of god, etc.
