Client Requirements:

Travel Documents
Passport - Required for US/ UK citizens traveling to South Africa and Botswana
Visa - no visa required for US/ UK citizens traveling to South Africa and Botswana

These rulings are subject to change at any stage. Travel documents are ultimately the responsibility of the traveler - check with the local visa office prior to departure.

  • Cycle Helmet
  • Cycle shorts (recommended)

Physical:

The SEAL Cycle Safari is as physically challenging as the individual riders choose it to be i.e. - the group will progress at the pace of the slowest member. We ride circuitous routes so there is no hurry or need to get anywhere fast.

A base fitness level is recommended - the fitter the rider the more the enjoyment. A fitter riding group will get to see more of the terrain and wildlife.

The SEAL Cycle Safari is definitely open to people of all fitness levels and the SEAL Rangers cater accordingly in their setting the pace for the cycle groups.

Medical:

Malaria. The Tuli region of Botswana is considered a malaria-zone. Malaria infections are more prevalent in the rainy summer months (Nov - Feb).

Contracting malaria is unlikely however, all guests are advised to consult their physician several weeks prior to travel for appropriate anti-malarials e.g. Malarone.

Vaccinations
1. Hepatitis A - Recommended for all travelers
2. Typhoid - Recommended for all travelers

Routine Immunizations
All travelers should be up-to-date on:
1. Tetanus-diptheria
2. Measles-mumps-rubella
3. Varicella

Travel Insurance:

Travel & Medical cover is recommended for all guests and is to be organized in their country of origin

<Power Supply:

Voltage in Mashatu is 220 V and only available at the main camp. Limited solar power is available at the tent camp. Guests may require a voltage converter depending on their country of origin.

Deposits & Final Payment:

  • 50% deposit secures expedition place
  • Final payment due 90 days prior to travel (see Terms & Conditions Document)

Safety Promise:

SEAL takes every precaution possible to ensure the safety of our guests by providing a support team to follow the cycle group, out of sight and earshot in an all-terrain vehicle.

SEAL equipment and communications technologies are state of the art including:

  • Mobile first-aid kit
  • VHF Radios
  • Cellular phone
  • Satellite phone (when no cellular coverage)
Our staff is trained and experienced with the wilderness skills necessary for a safe and successful land safari.

Though highly unlikely, all possible accident and treatment scenarios are planned for, as team safety is always the number one priority.

SEAL has a 100% safety record on the Cycle Safari.
